Personal Style

How to Define Your Personal Style

Fashion has always been a powerful tool for self-expression — and you have the power to harness it in creating your own personal style.

For those not sure how to define your own unique style, this article is just for you. Personal style can be a fluid definition since fashion is so vast and ever-changing. Fashion gives us the power and freedom to define, re-define, explore, and choose from a variety of amazing style groups: Classic, Casual, Boho, Grunge, Preppy, Punk Rock, Sportswear, and Streetwear.

Fashion is one of the most effective communication tools ever. Our clothing selection is the first form of communication to the world — it’s our voice without words.

It’s important to own our individuality and remain authentic to who we are. But to be fair and honest, there were seasons I had no clue who I was — I was in between being and becoming my best self. For those still exploring what style groups fit you best, take style tips from style magazines, New York, Paris, and L.A. fashion weeks, runway shows, personal stylists, and everyday street influencers around you.

When you see an outfit you like, figure out what exactly drew your attention. Was it the fit? The color combination? The comfort or casualness of the look? The mix of fabrics and prints? Or was it the energy and vibe that attracted you? These are all great areas to start honing in on when discovering looks that fit your body type, style, and energy. Always stay true to what feels comfortable for you.

Let’s also make it a point to compliment those we see wearing a cute outfit that sparks our attention. When someone pays me a compliment, it always makes me smile — so let’s pay it forward with kindness and spread the love.

Never stop trying out various styles. With consistency you’ll begin to curate your own sense of uniqueness. It’s always helpful to look in the mirror daily and say out loud, “I AM BEAUTIFUL. I AM AMAZING” — regardless of whether you feel it or not! Our spoken words begin to stimulate, populate, grow, and attract everything our voice speaks into the atmosphere. I’m convinced whatever you wear with confidence has the power to create a trend.

Consider investing in a stylist if you: want to create fresh new looks using clothes from your own closet; want help creating a more defined style to attract bigger, brighter opportunities; don’t have time to shop for yourself; or want a new look but aren’t sure how to create it on your own. Most stylists — like myself — offer free consultations and love speaking with potential clients.

Other easy ways to explore style without a stylist: browse iconic magazines like Essence, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue, and build inspiration boards on Pinterest. Knowledge is power — and exploring regularly begins an unimaginable process of self-discovery. Remember: never fear creating your own unique style from the inside out.

Seasonal Style

Transitioning Seasons Fashionably

Yes, summer is finally over and this amazing fall season is officially upon us. The beautiful vibrant colors associated with summer are fast fading into more muted, calmer colors — confirming it’s time to embrace our fashionable transition into this exciting fall season.

RhondazStyle is here to ensure you are just as fabulous in this new fall season as in every season moving forward. So let’s jump into Ready, Set, GO! mode with timeless pointers to help you make a memorable fashion statement every time you enter a room.

Think outside of the box when creating effortless, statement-worthy looks: pair your favorite sweater over a long-hanging, lightweight blouse, and never fear adding a decorative fall blazer or duster to your graphic t-shirt and jeans. Add character with coordinated or decorative scrunched lightweight socks worn with your favorite open-toed or fashionable high-heeled shoes.

Never shy away from mixing and matching colorful prints with coordinated patterns to add drama and character to all of your effortless, statement-worthy looks.

Color & Confidence

Brighten the Season & Your Mood with Color

Winter is upon us, bringing shorter days and less sunlight. This season we can help ourselves steer clear of the dreaded “winter blues” — a mood easily brought on by less sunlight, stressful holidays, and the loss of loved ones.

This winter, we can use color to change our style and our mood. Research proves color affects how we feel and how people respond to us. It is the first thing people observe in our style, and it leaves a lasting impression. The color of our clothing is a signal to the world, telling it who we are. When we get dressed in the morning, we’re telling ourselves who we are and how we want to show up in the world. It’s the most freeing and effortless way to express ourselves.

Don’t be afraid to experiment — warm colors versus cool, muted versus vibrant tones. Colors can even change our heart rate and blood pressure, making the colors we choose a vital component of how we feel.

Show the world your power with your use of color. Never be afraid to let your beautiful style and light shine bright like the star you are.

You’ve got the power!
